Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone density leading to an increase in risk for fracture. There are several risk factors noted by the National Osteoporosis Foundation that contribute to thinning bones. These can include a thin build, smoking, too little calcium in your diet, excessive alcoholic or caffeinated beverages and a family history of the disease. This disease is most easily detected in its early phase by a bone density exam. This simple test takes only a few minutes; you don’t even have to undress for this low dose x-ray as an arm scans your body while lying on a table. Brielle Obstetrics & Gynecology recognizes the importance of this test and has purchased a state-of-the-art densitometer for accurate digital readings performed right here in our office. You may have the convenience scheduling your annual exam with your physician and completing your bone density scan at the same time.
Hysteroscopy involves evaluation of the uterine cavity. A hysteroscope can be used to detect endometrial polyps and other gynecological problems. Endosee’s device allows the procedure to be done in the office without the need for anesthesia.
